Important Information about the Spokane Air Derby Site

Welcome and thank you for coming to our web site!  As you may have already noticed, there are some changes taking place within the site.  Since the Spokane Air Derby Air Fair and Air Race is now over, part of this site is now a historical landmark (or webmark) for this event.   You may have some questions as to why you are seeing this page instead of the Spokane Air Derby homepage.  This is being used a bridge page to answer any questions you may have, and guide you to the area of the web site which you may be looking for.  Look below for our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) so that hopefully, your questions will be answered.  If you're still confused, please e-mail us and let us know.  All contact information is at the bottom of the page.  Thanks!

Note:  You will have to adjust your bookmarks accordingly.  If you have bookmarked the "Spokane Air Derby and Air Fair" homepage, this page will load instead.  If you would like to continue seeing the old homepage, click here and add it to your bookmark.  If you have any problems, see FAQ below.

FAQ

What happened to the site that was here before?

Everything has stayed the same, just moved.  For historical purposes, the original Spokane Air Derby site has been maintained in it's original form for viewing purposes only.  We have provided a link so that you may still access the site.  However, since the 75th Anniversary event will never happen again, the site will not be updated or changed.

What do you mean by "Saving the site for historical purposes?"

Since the Spokane Air Derby has not occurred every year and is a once in a lifetime event, obviously, it will never happen again.  The 75th Anniversary is a special and unique part of the history of Spokane.  This event will be looked upon by future generations as something very special.  Since this is true, it has been asked that everything involved with the event be saved and marked as a part of history.  This includes the site that was maintained for the sole purpose of getting more people involved and informing others of it's purpose.  With that being said, everything on the original site is being maintained and saved the way it was originally seen.  You may visit the site, but it will never change.

Is there going to be another Spokane Air Derby Race next year?

Unfortunately, the answer is No.  Jerry Turner, the owner of Nostalgic Reflections, unselfishly dedicated much time and effort in putting together this event.  However, there is not enough time and resources to maintain this event every year.  Also, this event marked a specific historical marker, the 75th Anniversary.  It by itself is unique and can never be replicated.

Can I still buy merchandise associated with the event?

The answer is yes.  We will keep the order forms available for download so that you may still purchase items that are associated with the 75th Anniversary, if you missed out the first time around.  Click Here to be taken to the original Memorabilia Order Form, or Click Here to be taken to the Grand Awards Ball Order Form (which includes all items).  From there, you may download the form(s) and send it to us.

What about the Grand Awards Ball?

We have created a new section for the web site that includes a new photo album of pictures taken during and after the event.  This includes pictures of the vendors, trophy construction, summer events, race pilots, and yes, the Grand Awards Ball.  So if you were a part of this event, you'll definitely want to check it out.  We have hundreds of pictures for you to peruse.  Click here if you would like to see the Spokane Air Derby Pictures or Click here if you would like to be taken to the Grand Awards Ball Pictures.  Note:  Some of the pictures for the preparation of the Grand Awards Ball are located on the "Pictures of Derby" page.  If you're looking for a picture of yourself or of friends, it will be located on the Grand Awards Ball Pictures pages.

Will we see anymore updates, or is this it?

As stated previously, we have another section dealing with updates.  So far, we have hundreds of pictures dealing with everything from the Air Fair and Race, to the Grand Awards Ball.  Most likely, the only updates that will occur will be new pictures, however, all updates will be introduced on this page and will be included in the update section.  If you have any questions about the updates, feel free to contact us!
